RNLI Invergordon launched by Aberdeen Coastguard on request of Police Scotland Control room to locate & assist a person reported to be in the water by Cromarty Harbour.
The RNLI Invergordon lifeboat crew were paged at 11.37am on Wednesday 2nd Jan, launching their Trent Class lifeboat, ‘Douglas Aikman Smith’ quickly with 6 crew on board to a report from a member of the public to Police Scotland there could be a person in the water at Cromarty Harbour.
Making best speed up the calm Cromarty Firth, to the small village of Cromarty on the Black Isle arriving within 20 minutes of the request, a visual shoreline search was undertaken on route, and once arriving in the harbour, a search along with local coastguard teams was undertaken, with nothing to report.
Aberdeen Coastguard requested the Lifeboat carry out a shoreline search towards the West of the village when shortly after the casualty was reported to be safe ashore therefore standing down the Lifeboat.
The Lifeboat returned to her Invergordon West Harbour berth and was refuelled and made ready for service by 12.45pm.
